Porsche's latest 911 GTS introduces a significantly revised hybrid powertrain, featuring a larger 3.6L single-turbo boxer-six engine complemented by an electric motor and an electric turbocharger. The review highlights substantial improvements in torque, a wider torque curve, and enhanced response, particularly at lower RPMs, thanks to the electric assistance. While the previous 3.0L engine offered 473 hp, the new system, including the electric motor, achieves 532 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque, with a notable reduction in turbo lag. A key focus is Porsche's achievement of maintaining Lambda=1 (stoichiometric air-fuel ratio) across most operating conditions, which optimizes emissions and catalytic converter efficiency.
