The Hansshow NACS to CCS1 extension cable is the first of its kind commercially available, designed to address reach issues with Tesla Superchargers for non-Tesla EVs. While it successfully reached the charging port on an F-150 Lightning at a specific Supercharger location, its performance with a Rivian R1S was problematic, with charging repeatedly stopping due to overheating concerns. The cable also exhibited high surface temperatures during testing on the Lightning, exceeding UL2252 limits, though this was exacerbated by direct sunlight. A significant safety concern is the lack of an immediate charging shut-off when the CCS1 connector release button is pressed, a feature present in most adapters. The reviewer cannot recommend the product in its current form due to these safety and reliability issues, particularly the inability to consistently charge the Rivian and the potential for dangerous arc flashes. Improvements, especially integrating a safety shut-off mechanism and potentially increasing the amperage rating, are needed.
