The 2023 Lexus LC 500h remains a visually stunning and luxurious flagship coupe, even after six years on the market. While enthusiasts might lean towards the V8 LC 500 for its sound, the LC 500h offers a compelling alternative with comparable real-world acceleration and significantly improved fuel efficiency, achieving around 27-28 MPG in testing, a nearly 10 MPG gain over the V8. The hybrid powertrain, featuring a 3.5L V6 and electric motors, delivers a responsive feel, particularly in daily driving due to instant electric torque, making it feel quicker than its 0-60 times of around 4.85 seconds suggest. The handling is commendable for a luxury GT, with communicative steering and well-tuned adaptive dampers that balance sportiness with a comfortable ride. However, the vehicle's age is most apparent in its outdated infotainment system, controlled by a frustrating trackpad, and the lack of modern features like a 360-degree camera or a digital rearview mirror. The rear seats are cramped, and cargo space is limited. Despite these drawbacks, the LC 500h's timeless exterior design, comfortable interior, and impressive range (over 500 miles) make it a special, albeit expensive, proposition, especially for those prioritizing efficiency and daily drivability over the V8's exhaust note.
