The ORA Funky Cat enters the competitive C-sector hatchback market with a distinctive, retro-inspired design and a surprisingly premium interior for its class, rivaling established players like the VW ID.3 and MG4. The cabin impresses with its quality materials, dual 10.25-inch screens, and thoughtful features like facial recognition and advanced safety systems. However, the Funky Cat falters significantly in key areas: its 48 kWh battery offers a modest 193-mile WLTP range, and charging speeds are capped at 64 kW, leading to a 42-minute 10-80% charge. Practicality is also a concern, with a small 228-liter boot. On the road, while adequate for town driving, the chassis lacks the composure and refinement of its rivals, and seat support is lacking for longer journeys. Despite its strong equipment levels and attractive pricing compared to some competitors, the Funky Cat ultimately falls short of being a class leader, positioning itself as a worthy but not quite compelling alternative, especially against the strong value proposition of the MG4.
