The 2025 Polestar 3 Performance offers a compelling, comfortable, and quiet driving experience, making it a strong contender for long road trips. The adaptive air suspension and phenomenal Bowers & Wilkins audio system are standout features, contributing to a luxurious and serene cabin environment. Acceleration is peppy and quick. However, the vehicle falters significantly in its driver assistance and interior technology. The reviewer experienced frustrating issues with the pilot assist system, including unexpected deactivations and warnings despite hands being on the wheel. Steering wheel controls are deemed inadequate, forcing reliance on the touchscreen for basic functions like changing audio tracks. The fixed glass sunroof without a shade also proved problematic on hot days, allowing excessive heat and sun into the cabin. Real-world efficiency averaged around 2.5-2.7 miles per kWh at highway speeds, yielding a usable range of approximately 240-260 miles. Charging performance was also a point of contention, with limitations in the US market preventing the Polestar 3 from reaching its peak charging speeds due to charger hardware limitations, extending charging times beyond the advertised 30 minutes for a 10-80% charge. Despite these drawbacks, the reviewer would still choose the Polestar 3 over the Volvo XC90 for similar trips due to its superior ride quality and comfort.
