The Subaru Uncharted, a badge-engineered Toyota bZ4X/CR-EV, has officially debuted. While sharing the Toyota e-TNGA platform, Subaru has differentiated it with styling tweaks, including a more traditional Subaru front fascia and the absence of the polarizing black fender cladding found on its Toyota counterparts. The Uncharted will offer a 74.7 kWh battery, with the front-wheel-drive Premium trim boasting 221 horsepower and an estimated range of over 300 miles. All-wheel-drive Sport and GT trims will feature dual motors, 338 horsepower, and a 0-60 mph time under 5 seconds, along with Subaru's X-Mode for enhanced traction. A key feature is the native NACS charging port, ensuring compatibility with Tesla Superchargers and other networks adopting the standard. DC fast charging is capped at 150 kW, with 10-80% charging taking approximately 30 minutes, aided by battery preconditioning. While pricing is unconfirmed, expectations are that it will need to be competitive with vehicles like the Chevy Equinox EV, ideally in the high $30,000s, to succeed against established players like the Tesla Model Y. Subaru aims for a market launch in early 2026, as part of its plan for eight EV models by 2028.
