The Kia EV3 emerges as a compelling contender in the mid-sized electric SUV segment, praised for its striking exterior design and a surprisingly spacious boot (460L). The interior boasts a modern layout with clear digital displays and intuitive infotainment, featuring good quality, soft-touch materials, though the seats are noted as lacking support. The EV3 offers two battery options: 58kWh and 81kWh, with the larger battery achieving a claimed 375 miles of range. However, real-world testing revealed a range of approximately 252 miles (70% of claim) with the 81kWh battery, dropping to 203 miles (55% of claim) when driven more assertively. Performance is adequate for daily driving, with a 0-60mph time of 7.79 seconds, but it's not class-leading. Braking performance was a notable disappointment, with a tested distance of 45 meters from 60 mph. Practicality is generally good, though rear passenger space is tighter than expected for a family car. Annoyances include climate control information being hidden and the feel of the flush door handles. Cool features include rapid window operation and adjustable regen braking with one-pedal driving. While the EV3 offers good value starting at £33,000 and includes standard features like adaptive cruise control, it falls short of the premium feel and outright comfort of rivals like the Volvo EX30.
