The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250, based on the GLA, is presented as an entry-level EV option. While it boasts a futuristic design with its signature LED light bar and a well-appointed interior featuring dual 10.25-inch screens and the MBUX system, it makes notable compromises. Practicality is impacted by a smaller boot (340 liters) compared to the GLA, and rear-seat passengers may find the seating position compromised by the underfloor battery. The EQA 250's performance is described as 'sprightly' in the city but can feel slower on country roads. Real-world range testing yielded 336 km from a 19.8 kWh/100km consumption, a solid return for a city-focused vehicle. The reviewer highlights the smooth, silent electric drive and the effective one-pedal driving capability (though not a complete stop). However, the transition from regenerative to friction braking can be jerky, and the front-wheel-drive setup can lead to traction loss under hard acceleration or cornering. Ride comfort is decent but can be firm on 20-inch wheels, and road/wind noise is more noticeable than in some competitors. The EQA 250 is considered relatively expensive, with the upcoming EQA 350 promising more performance. Overall, it's a compelling, albeit pricey, package for city use, with room for improvement in refinement and practicality.
