The MG S5 EV marks a significant improvement over its predecessor, the ZS EV, offering a fresh design, a refined interior, and a much-improved driving experience. Designed from the ground up as an EV, it shares underpinnings with the acclaimed MG4 hatchback, resulting in a stable, composed, and engaging drive that belies its affordable price point. The cabin is praised for its minimalist design, spaciousness, and practical features like physical climate controls. Practicality is a strong suit, with ample rear-seat room, a flat floor, and a boot that surpasses key rivals like the BYD Atto 3 and Cherry Om E5. However, the S5 EV is not without its drawbacks. The real-world range, while adequate for city driving, may be insufficient for ride-share drivers or those undertaking frequent long trips, with the 62kWh battery offering up to 430km and the 49kWh around 340km.
