The Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast was subjected to the extreme 'Rustic Ring' towing challenge, hauling approximately 10,000 lbs through varied terrain including steep ascents, descents, dirt roads, and tight switchbacks. While the Cybertruck demonstrated impressive powertrain thermal management and chassis stability, capable of handling the immense load with ample acceleration, significant drawbacks were identified. The steer-by-wire system's quick ratio proved challenging and potentially dangerous when towing, requiring extremely gentle inputs. Furthermore, regenerative braking was severely limited during long descents, forcing reliance on friction brakes which were deemed inadequate. The charging curve is also a concern, with slow charging speeds at lower states of charge and a poorly placed rear charge port hindering towing practicality. Despite its power and stability, the Cybertruck is not optimized for heavy towing, with combustion vehicles remaining the superior choice for such tasks.
