The 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV is presented as a "moonshot" vehicle, born from an unconstrained "What the hell, let's do it!" attitude. While sharing much with its pickup sibling, the SUV features a reduced wheelbase and a smaller battery pack, resulting in a curb weight of 8660 pounds. GMC estimates a range of up to 314 miles, but real-world testing yielded 250 miles at 75 mph. Charging capabilities are robust, with DC fast-charging capable of nearly 300 kW, and Level 2 charging up to 19.2 kW. The tri-motor setup offers 830 horsepower (a 625-hp two-motor version will follow) and a "WTF" launch mode enabling a 3.4-second 0-60 mph sprint. Despite its impressive acceleration and a respectable 199-foot stopping distance from 70 mph for its weight, the review notes significant body motions during acceleration and braking, and a lack of on-pavement grip. The vehicle's immense weight, exceeding that of three Mazda Miatas, is a recurring concern.
