Rivian's latest software update (24.11.19) significantly enhances the public charging experience for owners, as detailed in an interview with VP of Software, Wassym Bensaid. The core feature is the 'Rivian Charging Score,' a data-driven system that objectively rates chargers based on successful sessions, tries, and peak performance, moving beyond subjective crowdsourced reviews. This allows the navigation system to prioritize higher-rated chargers (B or above), filtering out less reliable options (C, D, F). The update also introduces the ability for users to add subjective comments for future consideration, focusing on amenities and safety. Additionally, the rear passenger screen now displays navigation and ETA, a feature driven by customer feedback. The driver's display also sees improvements, offering more detailed charging information, including cost, particularly for Tesla Supercharger usage via adapter, highlighting Rivian's strong software integration capabilities. While the focus is on objective data, the inclusion of user feedback for future subjective scoring is a promising development.
