Doug DeMuro reviews the 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, highlighting its shared Toyota powertrain and attractive styling as key strengths. He praises the interior's surprisingly high-quality materials, which he considers a step above competitors like the Honda CR-V Hybrid and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. However, DeMuro points out several drawbacks, including the awkwardly placed cup holders, the old-school gear selector, and most significantly, the non-touchscreen infotainment system controlled by a center console dial. While Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offer touch functionality, the screen's distance remains an issue. The gauge cluster screen is also deemed basic. Despite these criticisms, DeMuro notes the CX-50 Hybrid offers decent power (around 220 hp) and good fuel economy (38 MPG combined), with standard all-wheel drive. He concludes that while it doesn't offer the performance of the CX-50 Turbo, it's a very competitive offering in the compact hybrid SUV segment, making it a strong contender against established rivals.
