EV Channels Review

The Kia EV9 Light Long Range was put through rigorous driver assistance testing on the challenging I-70 Hogback trials. While the system offers a comprehensive suite of features, including automatic lane changes and adaptive cruise control with learning capabilities, its performance in critical safety scenarios was found to be lacking. Notably, the system disengages steering without sufficient warning or a gradual slowdown in emergencies, a significant safety concern. Despite this, the EV9's driver assistance performs well on straight highways, offering a comfortable and confidence-inspiring experience for long-distance driving. However, its tendency to hug the outside of lanes in corners and occasional failures in complex situations, particularly on the return trip, highlight areas for improvement. The powertrain was also noted as being underpowered for its size and weight.
