EV Channels Review

The Polestar 2's Pilot Assist system, despite being sold in 2024 models, is a significant disappointment. While it offers basic lane centering and adaptive cruise control, its performance in challenging conditions, such as broken lane lines or complex highway interchanges, is consistently poor. The system frequently hesitates to engage, struggles with speed limit adherence, and exhibits erratic behavior, including unexpected lane changes and a tendency to take exits aggressively. The reviewer notes that the system feels outdated, comparable to technology from 2016, and is a "half-baked" offering, especially considering it's an optional upgrade. The emergency stop assist is functional, bringing the car to a gentle stop with hazards, but lacks more assertive alerts like horn honking or seatbelt yanking. In contrast, the Polestar 1's system is even more rudimentary, shutting off entirely during an emergency simulation. While the Polestar 2 is praised as a fun and engaging driver's car, its driver assistance system is deemed unacceptable for its price and market position.
