While it boasts a capable "real truck" design, distinct from car-based crossovers, initial impressions reveal a mixed bag. The turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine offers ample power, but the powertrain isn't entirely smooth, with some vibrations and occasional transmission quirks noted, possibly due to the low mileage (around 400 miles) and ongoing break-in period. Road noise from door seals is also a concern. The most significant gripe for the reviewers is the stiff, bouncy ride, which is noticeably more pronounced than in competitors like the Toyota Tacoma or Chevrolet Colorado. Despite its truck-like appearance and capability, the Ranger's ride quality and the awkward placement of running boards without grab handles detract from the overall experience.
