The Out of Spec team, hosted by Nokian Tyres, experienced a day of EV drifting on snow and ice at Copper Mountain. The event provided an excellent opportunity to test Nokian's winter tires in a controlled, low-stakes environment. While the primary focus was on tire performance and learning car control techniques like drifting, the video also highlighted the practical challenges of charging multiple EVs in a remote location, with limited and slow Level 2 charging options. The team drove a variety of EVs including the Audi e-tron, Rivian R1T, Tesla Model 3 (including a Performance variant), VW ID.4, Chevrolet Bolt, and the Renault Twizy, alongside a BMW M340i and a Revel diesel as non-EV comparisons. The consensus was that such events are invaluable for drivers to understand their vehicle's behavior in adverse conditions, promoting safer driving habits.
