This video provides an in-depth look at WAE Technology's electrification of a Terex MT 4400 mining truck, a significant undertaking for Fortescue's Australian operations. The review highlights the massive 1.4 MWh battery pack, composed of eight 185 kWh sub-packs, operating at a demanding 1400 volts. Key challenges addressed include thermal management in extreme Australian conditions (up to 50-60°C ambient), requiring individually cooled modules and a complex cooling system using dielectric fluid and water glycol. The integration into a diesel-electric truck is noted, leveraging its existing inverter and motor setup, and importantly, its regenerative braking system to recapture energy.
