The Mercedes EQC prototype, seen here undergoing hot-weather testing in Spain, marks a significant entry into the electric SUV market, aiming to rival Tesla. While the exterior design is heavily camouflaged, the EQC is based on the GLC platform and will feature dual electric motors producing around 400 horsepower and offering instant torque. A key highlight is the innovative use of steering wheel paddles to control regenerative braking, allowing for modes ranging from free-rolling to a full one-pedal driving experience. The interior, though hidden, is expected to retain Mercedes' premium luxury and advanced MBUX infotainment system. The driving experience is characterized by exceptional quietness and smooth acceleration, with the dual motors enabling precise torque management for dynamic performance, even on a racetrack. The vehicle is slated for a 2019 launch, with Mercedes planning a broader EQ range by 2022.
