The 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid is introduced as the brand's first-ever hybrid SUV, aiming to improve upon the gas model's efficiency and driving dynamics. While it succeeds in offering a quieter, smoother ride and better acceleration off the line thanks to its hybrid powertrain and improved suspension, it retains the gas model's subpar interior materials and a laggy, outdated infotainment system. The Forester Hybrid boasts standard AWD, excellent visibility, and a spacious interior, but falls short in interior storage and the user experience of its tech. In contrast, the Honda CR-V Hybrid, despite being a few years older, offers a more refined and functional interior with superior materials and a responsive infotainment system. While the CR-V Hybrid is slightly less efficient and has a less engaging AWD system for off-road conditions, its superior ride comfort, handling, power, and overall execution make it the preferred choice for most buyers. The CR-V Hybrid also comes at a slightly lower price point for top trims. Although the Forester Hybrid is the best version of the Forester ever made and a strong contender for off-road enthusiasts, the CR-V Hybrid is deemed the clear winner for its better all-around performance and user experience.
