The 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E-Performance marks a significant departure with its V8 engine replaced by a potent 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid system. While the loss of the V8 is palpable, the new powertrain delivers staggering combined output of 500 kW and 1000 Nm, with the electric motor providing instant torque and the electrically spooled turbo minimizing lag. On the track, the C63 S E-Performance impresses with remarkable balance and poise, despite a 200-300 kg weight increase over its predecessor. The all-wheel-drive system, torque vectoring, and stability control work harmoniously, allowing for precise handling and clear communication of limits, even with noticeable body roll. The integrated track coaching for the e-boost system is a novel, F1-inspired feature. On the road, the car offers a comfortable ride in Comfort mode, though the sport seats are firm for long journeys.
