The 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4MATIC is presented as Mercedes' first true ground-up electric vehicle, built on a dedicated platform. The reviewer highlights its refined driving experience, characteristic of Mercedes-Benz, with precise steering and a comfortable yet capable suspension that masks the battery's weight during normal driving. The dual-motor AWD system provides strong acceleration (0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds) and a quiet, smooth ride, complemented by various recuperation modes, including a useful one-pedal drive. The interior is praised for its high-quality materials, modern design with unique air vents and dashboard elements, and the standard MBUX infotainment system with dual 10.25-inch screens. Practicality is good, with ample boot space and storage compartments. However, the EQC is not without its drawbacks. The reviewer notes that dynamic driving, especially in tight corners, reveals the vehicle's weight. Real-world range fell short of the claimed figures, achieving 350 km in cold temperatures (below 10°C) with a consumption of 22-25 kWh/100km, compared to the NEFZ rating of 445-471 km. The high starting price of around 71,000 euros, which can easily exceed 100,000 euros with options, is also a significant consideration.
