The EVDANCE NACS to CCS adapter is put to the test, demonstrating impressive charging speeds and thermal management, comparable to official adapters. The adapter successfully handled a 500A peak loop charging session, reaching up to 178 kW initially and maintaining a steady 115 kW until 70% state of charge, even reaching 61 kW at 80%. Temperatures remained well within acceptable limits throughout the test. However, a significant safety concern arises from the adapter's unique twist knob design, which does not appear to de-energize the adapter, allowing for potential disconnection while live. This lack of a proper lockout mechanism is a major drawback, despite the adapter's otherwise strong performance in terms of charging speed and heat dissipation. The reviewer also casts doubt on the UL listing claims made by many third-party adapters, including this one, suggesting that current OEM adapters also do not meet full UL certification standards for high-power charging.
