The Toyota bZ4X AWD is presented as a capable electric SUV with a futuristic interior and a comfortable, solid driving experience, particularly excelling in its handling on country roads and off-road conditions, including snow. The reviewer praises the chassis, suspension, and steering, noting its stability at high speeds and agile performance. However, the vehicle falls short in crucial EV-specific areas, especially during winter. Charging speeds drop significantly in cold temperatures due to battery conservation measures, and the lack of a preconditioning feature exacerbates this issue. The estimated range in freezing temperatures is a disappointing 270 km (170 miles), a stark contrast to the 320 km (200 miles) achievable in milder conditions. Furthermore, the infotainment system lacks essential EV route planning with charging stops, and the theoretical range figures are presented with an arbitrary 100 km deduction when heating is activated.
