The 2025 Honda Civic receives a significant update with the reintroduction of the hybrid powertrain, aiming for an estimated 50 MPG combined. This new hybrid system, available in both sedan and hatchback forms, offers 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Civic ever outside of the Type R. However, this update comes at the cost of manual transmission availability in most trims, with only the SI and Type R potentially retaining it. The regular Civic lineup sees the 1.5T engine replaced by the hybrid system in the Sport Touring and Sport trims, while the LX and base Sport models retain a non-hybrid 2.0L engine. The interior receives minor updates, including an optional 9-inch display with Google built-in for the Sport Touring Hybrid. Pricing is yet to be announced, but availability is slated for June for the sedan and later in the summer for the hatchback. The discontinuation of manual options across most of the Civic lineup is a notable drawback for enthusiasts.
