In drag races, the new C63's hybrid system and AWD give it a decisive advantage off the line and over the quarter mile, completing it in 11.5 seconds compared to the old V8's 12.1 seconds. However, the reviewer notes the new car's complexity, with occasional gearbox/hybrid system stumbles, particularly in rolling races. Despite being technically superior and faster, the reviewer expresses a preference for the raw character, sound, and simpler feel of the old V8, likening the new car's experience to "CDs compared to vinyl."
