The Pergear P2 40-amp portable EV charger is reviewed as a dual-voltage unit with a competitive price point of $299 and a useful 2.4-inch color display. However, its performance in critical tests reveals significant drawbacks. The cable exhibits poor flexibility in cold temperatures, failing the deep freeze test. While it passed the connector drop test, the unit suffered a catastrophic failure during the submersion test, with water easily entering the body due to a poor seal where the cable connects. This failure, along with the cable's poor cold-weather performance and the lack of an included 120V adapter, leads to a strong recommendation against its use in inclement weather or outdoor applications.
