The reviewer tested the charging performance of the Foundation Series dual-motor Tesla Cybertruck on a V3 Supercharger, finding it to be a mixed bag. While the Cybertruck initially achieves a strong peak charging rate of 250 kW, it holds this for only about 4 minutes before a significant and prolonged ramp-down. By 30 minutes, the charging rate drops to 93 kW, and by 40 minutes, it's a mere 77 kW. The full 0-100% charge took 1 hour and 25 minutes. The reviewer expresses disappointment, noting that while the Cybertruck charges better than the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T in the 0-80% range (46 minutes vs. 51-52 minutes), it falls short of expectations for a new EV and is outperformed by the Chevy Silverado EV. The primary limitation identified is the 400V architecture of Tesla's V3 Superchargers; the Cybertruck's 800V system could theoretically charge faster on 1000V chargers, but the necessary infrastructure and compatible adapters are not yet widely available. The reviewer hopes for future software updates to improve the charging curve.
