The Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo's InnoDrive system, when equipped with active lane keeping, was put to the test on the challenging Hogback route. While the system performed surprisingly well in corners, often better than expected, its straight-line performance was deemed problematic, characterized by excessive "ping-ponging" and a "drunk driver"-like sway. The reviewer noted that the system's speed adaptation for corners and speed limits was inconsistent, sometimes failing to adjust or displaying incorrect speed data. A significant drawback highlighted was the system's tendency to disengage or require driver intervention frequently, leading to point deductions. The emergency assist function, however, was praised as one of the best tested, with the car yanking seatbelts, pulsing brakes, and bringing the vehicle to a complete stop with hazards engaged. Despite its impressive cornering capability in the test, the reviewer concluded that the system's straight-line instability and frequent interventions make it less confidence-inspiring than competitors like the Rivian's Driver+ or VW's Travel Assist, suggesting that for US buyers, opting for adaptive cruise control with just active lane keeping, and skipping InnoDrive, might be a more practical choice.
