Porsche's 992.2 911, particularly the GTS, marks a significant evolution with its new hybrid powertrain. Engineers aimed to boost performance and meet regulations without compromising the 911's core identity, achieving this with a new 3.6L engine and an integrated electric motor in the PDK, plus an electrified turbocharger. This setup delivers substantial power gains (around 60 hp more than the predecessor) and quicker acceleration, notably eliminating turbo lag with near-instantaneous boost. Despite adding about 50 kg, the car feels more potent, with the hybrid system designed to enhance, not detract from, the driving experience. The new digital instrument cluster, while controversial for replacing the analog tachometer, offers greater customization and displays crucial hybrid system information. The GTS achieves a remarkable Nürburgring time of 7:16.9, significantly faster than the previous generation.
