EV Channels Review

In this head-to-head comparison, the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60 were put through a series of six off-road challenges to determine the ultimate family SUV for tackling rough terrain. The BMW X3, specifically the 30e hybrid model, showcased strong initial performance, particularly in the uphill drag race thanks to its electric boost, and ultimately won the overall competition. However, it struggled with ground clearance and weight in more extreme obstacles. The Audi Q5, with its Quattro all-wheel-drive system, demonstrated excellent control and momentum, especially on descents and during chassis articulation tests, securing a close second place. The Volvo XC60, despite having the most ground clearance, lagged behind in several challenges, particularly in articulation and the final obstacle course, finishing third. While all three SUVs proved surprisingly capable off-road for their intended purpose, the BMW X3 emerged as the victor, albeit with noted compromises in its heavier hybrid setup.
