The 2024 Honda Prologue represents Honda's mainstream EV debut, built on GM's Ultium platform and sharing architecture with the Chevrolet Blazer EV. While Honda styled the exterior, the underlying platform is GM's. The Prologue offers competitive EPA range figures (up to 296 miles for FWD), but real-world testing revealed significant issues with depleting the battery completely, requiring hours to regain mobility, unlike other EVs. Charging speed also dropped considerably under hot conditions. Interior usability is improved over the Blazer EV with a smaller, cleaner 11.3-inch screen and physical buttons for key functions, including a dedicated start/stop button. However, the infotainment system, while visually cleaner, retains some GM complexity. Driving dynamics are praised for smooth power delivery and a more composed ride than the Blazer EV, thanks to increased tire sidewall. Concerns include the finicky regen paddle, potential wind noise, and an odd, wheezy climate system noise. Safety features are standard, but it lacks GM's Super Cruise and seat-vibrating lane departure warnings, relying instead on audible and visual alerts. False alerts from the ADAS system were also noted as a recurring issue. Ultimately, while the Prologue offers a more refined user experience than its GM counterpart, potential buyers should be wary of its unique charging limitations and the long-term implications of its shared platform regarding parts and service.
