The powertrain remains a 2.5-liter flat-four engine paired with a CVT, now producing 180 horsepower. The "Premium" trim, tested at $31,995 (as tested $35,500 with options), is praised for its intuitive hard controls, a welcome contrast to the trend of over-complicated touchscreens, though climate controls have moved to the larger 11.6-inch touchscreen, drawing eyes away from the road. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are standard, but blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert require an upgrade to the second trim. While the driving dynamics are improved with better steering feel and a quieter cabin, some testers still noted engine noise. The Forester is lauded as a practical, everyday vehicle suitable for weekend adventures, particularly for dog owners due to Subaru's pet accessory focus.
