While Mercedes-Benz has engineered a highly capable off-road electric SUV with impressive torque vectoring thanks to its quad motors, and a luxurious, well-built interior, it struggles to resonate with the US market. The primary reasons cited for its poor sales are its emotional disconnect from the traditional G Wagon's V8 or inline-6 character, a dated 400-volt architecture, significant depreciation concerns in the cooling EV market, and a less refined, "jouncy" truck ride compared to competitors like the Range Rover or Porsche Cayenne.
