The revised Lexus UX300e presents a significant improvement over its predecessor, particularly with its substantially larger 73 kWh battery, extending the WLTP range to a competitive 279 miles. The interior quality remains a strong point, with excellent materials and a much-improved infotainment system featuring a responsive touchscreen and a welcome blend of physical and digital controls. The driving experience is characterized by exceptional refinement and comfort, making it a serene cruiser, especially on motorways. However, the UX300e is not without its drawbacks. Rear seat space is notably cramped, and the boot capacity, while improved, is still smaller than many rivals. The most significant issue is the retention of the slow 50kW CHAdeMO charging system, which severely limits charging speed and practicality for longer journeys, a stark contrast to the rapid charging capabilities of competitors like the Genesis GV60. Despite these limitations, the UX300e is a more compelling proposition, especially for those prioritizing comfort, build quality, and a premium feel over outright practicality and charging speed.
