Hyundai is set to significantly challenge Toyota and Honda's long-standing dominance in the hybrid market with its advanced next-generation hybrid system. Debuting in the new Palisade, this system promises substantial improvements in both performance and efficiency, with the Palisade expected to achieve over 600 miles on a single tank. Key innovations include a dual-motor setup for smoother operation and enhanced power delivery, a redesigned 2.5-liter turbocharged engine offering a 19% power increase and 45% better fuel efficiency over its non-hybrid counterpart, and the flexibility to be integrated across multiple vehicle platforms. The system also introduces e-all-wheel drive for improved handling and posture control, and a unique 'top-off' mode for vehicle-to-load power export. While the six-speed automatic transmission offers a more engaging driving experience than CVTs, its long-term reliability compared to Toyota and Honda's systems remains to be seen.
