EV Channels Review
The Mercedes EQS 450+ undergoes a real-world range test against the Tesla Model S Long Range Raven. While the EQS boasts a larger 120kWh battery, the Tesla, despite its smaller 100kWh pack and age, proved more efficient, achieving 4 miles per kWh compared to the EQS's 3.4 miles per kWh. In a 328-mile test under real-world conditions including traffic, the Tesla's estimated range was 376 miles, while the EQS's was 352 miles. The reviewer highlights the EQS's exceptional comfort, quietness, and luxurious interior, likening it to an electric S-Class, with standout features like massaging and ventilated seats, and the augmented reality navigation. However, criticisms include haptic steering wheel buttons, the lack of soft-close doors on this high-spec model, the impractical angle and reflection issues of the large Hyperscreen, and a slightly jarring stop/start mechanism compared to the Tesla's smooth one-pedal driving. Despite these niggles, the EQS is praised as a fantastic, albeit expensive, luxury cruiser with very respectable range.
