EV Channels Review
The Chevrolet Silverado EV LT Extended Range was subjected to the '10% Challenge,' a road trip simulation test. The vehicle achieved a remarkable charging speed, delivering the most energy ever recorded in this test, even surpassing the Porsche Taycan. This performance was achieved with the 180 kWh, 20-module battery pack, which is not the largest available. However, the Silverado EV's efficiency proved to be its significant downfall, registering as the least efficient vehicle tested to date. Despite the exceptional charging capabilities, the truck managed only 90 miles on a 15-minute charge at 80 mph in cold conditions, with an indicated efficiency of 1.4 miles per kWh. While the rapid charging is a major positive, the poor efficiency, particularly for a truck, limits its overall effectiveness in this specific test scenario. The reviewer suggests that while excellent charging can compensate for poor efficiency to a degree, there's a limit, and the Silverado EV reached it.
