The new Peugeot E-3008 aims to be a class-leading electric SUV, boasting an impressive official range of up to 435 miles for the long-range version. The interior features a modern, expansive 21-inch curved screen, offering a good line of sight for the driver display and infotainment. However, the infotainment system can be laggy and confusing, with climate control shortcuts disappearing when using Apple CarPlay. The new steering wheel's "flappy tacky" buttons feel cheap, though the customizable "eye toggle" panel is a practical addition. While the interior materials are generally decent, some build quality issues are noted. Rear seat headroom is compromised, especially on sunroof-equipped models, and the boot space, while adequate, is smaller than some rivals like the Tesla Model Y. On the road, the ride quality is unsettled and lacks sophistication, and handling is uninspiring for driving enthusiasts. The steering feels vague at higher speeds. Despite these drawbacks, the E-3008 offers good brake pedal feel and decent regenerative braking, though not full one-pedal driving. The main detractor is the "punchy" pricing, which makes it more expensive than key competitors like the Tesla Model Y and the Kia Niro EV, diminishing its value proposition.
