This video from TFL Studios tests the real-world impact of different tires on the Tesla Cybertruck's range. The experiment involved two sets of wheels and tires: BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrain tires on rugged Atomic Wheels, and Michelin Defender LTX all-season tires on sporty Atomic Wheels. The Denver 100, an 111-mile highway loop, was used for testing. The BFGoodrich KO3s, despite being aggressive all-terrain tires, offered a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride, consuming 48 kWh (approximately 2.3 miles per kWh). The Michelin Defender LTX all-seasons used slightly less energy, consuming 45 kWh (approximately 2.47 miles per kWh), representing a saving of about 8% in energy consumption. While the difference wasn't massive, the test confirms that tire choice does influence EV range, with all-season tires offering a slight advantage over all-terrain options. Both tire sets provided a comfortable ride, with the Cybertruck's suspension seemingly mitigating significant differences in road feel.
