This video pits the electric Rivian R1T against the gasoline-powered Jeep Gladiator Mojave in an off-road comparison. The R1T, with its instant torque and advanced computer systems, impressed with its articulation capabilities and high-speed handling on smoother terrain, even reaching speeds of 45 mph through less severe whoops. However, the R1T struggled significantly in deep whoops and on steep, rutted hills, where its lack of tire bite and reliance on electronic traction control proved insufficient. The Jeep Gladiator Mojave, despite its lower power output and less sophisticated suspension, demonstrated competence with its rear locker and solid axles, particularly on the initial hill climbs. Its limitations became apparent in the deep whoops and the most challenging hill, where the lack of a front locker was a significant disadvantage. Ultimately, the test concluded that while both vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, the R1T's electric advantages didn't overcome the Gladiator's mechanical off-road prowess in the most demanding situations, with neither truck conquering the final, most difficult hill.
